These words are from a poem ‘Thr Peasant’ by the Welsh poet RS Thomas – “enduring like a tree under curious stars”. He describes Iago, a Welsh hill farmer and his enduring presence. I love the words and the radio 4 drama which uses them as it’s title and I decided to illustrate them. I chose the iconic and heavily photographed ‘lonely tree’ at Llanberis in my image as it seems to me to be the perfect subject for a portrait of enduring against all odds in the harsh but beautiful Welsh landscape. I wanted the image to be dark but with the delicate beauty of standing in nature on a starlight night.

The proportions of our unframed prints are unaltered from the original images and therefore don’t always fill the whole page or follow the standard A4, A3 sizing format. If you order a framed print there may be a slight adjustment to the aspect ratio to best fit the mount and frame.
In order to get the best quality print possible we don’t make our fine art prints any larger than the original artwork.
